We had a quick flight from Winnipeg to Vancouver today to kick off our Asian Adventure. This provided the perfect excuse to get together with family for a quick visit before the long haul across the Pacific Ocean tomorrow.
Andy's parents came across to the mainland from Vancouver Island, as did his sister Maggie and her two kids. Rachel & Abby had a blast splashing around in the pool with their cousins Trey and Layla. It's always amazing seeing how quickly the kids all become best buds even if it's been many months since their last get together...
Even though we didn't need more cause for celebration, it also happened to be Mary Jane's 65th birthday. In honour of this occasion, we brought a highly sought after 'Jeanne's Cake' on the plane from Winnipeg to Vancouver to celebrate. Jennifer earned huge cred by seeing to it that the cake arrived completely intact - in fact, not even a chocolate curl was out of place!
Before climbing on the big plane to Seoul tomorrow morning, we just wanted to thank all of our family and friends who are supporting us in so many ways to make this dream a reality. To our housesitters and dogsitters, we really appreciate all of your efforts. And to the many friends and family who have ensured that we've been sent off in style, we are extremely grateful! The travel tips, recommendations and words of advice will go a long way toward ensuring that we have the most memorable of vacations!
